How to Recognize Positive Signs from the Universe

You are on the right path.

There you go. You don’t have to keep reading, you got your sign from the Universe – hahaha!

In all seriousness, positive signs from the Universe present themselves in many ways. I’ve come up with the following categories:

• Coincidence, Serendipity, and Synchronicity
• Repeated Symbols
• Angel Numbers
• The Four Clairs

In this post, I will define the signs, explain how to recognize the signs, provide examples of the signs, and suggest how to interpret the signs.

Coincidence, Serendipity, and Synchronicity

• Coincidence – “the occurrence of events that happen at the same time by accident but seem to have some connection”¹
• Serendipity – “the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for”²
• Synchronicity – “the coincidental occurrence of events and especially psychic events that seem related but are not explained by conventional mechanisms of causality”³

No matter the word you want to use to describe the event, all three are perfect examples of the Universe letting you know that you are on the right path.

When you are in tune with the Universe, these occurrences are more frequent. Even if they may not have a direct relation to whatever your current Life Goal is, they are still positive signs from the Universe.

Examples include:

• Hearing a song in your head then Spotify or Pandora playing it next
• Thinking of someone moments before they call you
• Hitting an antelope on the highway and the woman in the only car you’ve seen for 10+ miles had the same thing happen to her a few weeks prior so she stops and helps you

Yes, the last example really happened to my partner, Riley. Pretty wild to be in that situation, but even more wild for that stranger to be nearby on that otherwise desolate road.

Often, these coincidences are events that are “meant to be” and clear signs that whatever message is present is in the right direction. The other day, my friend and I were coming up with a podcast name and said a name at the same time – synchronicity and divine guidance from the Universe.

Repeated Symbols

Another positive sign from the Universe is noticing repeated symbols that show up in your life.

The best way for me to explain this is by providing a personal example (click here if you want to skip my rambling story):

The story of how symbols led me to my cat.

Toward the end of 2021, I was looking into adopting a cat. I knew I wanted a long-haired cat that was not a kitten but was unsure which breed would be best for me. One day at work, the week of a trip to New Mexico with a friend, I wrote down a list of long-haired cat breeds. I did not have time to look for specific breeds in the area that I could adopt right then but knew I would return to the list after this trip.

While in New Mexico, my friend and I went shopping in Old Town Albuquerque and I bought a beautiful purple swirl ring from a crystal/jewelry shop. I do not look at the metaphysical benefits of a crystal that are sometimes on display until after I buy something since I like picking items based on feel and whatever I feel drawn toward, not to be influenced by what I read about the item.

After leaving the shop, I looked up the crystal in the ring – charoite. A beautiful gemstone that is only found in Siberia, Russia.

We returned to the Phoenix Valley later that week on Saturday and I learned that my friend who I was supposed to go to a concert with on Sunday bailed. She and I planned to meet for food instead, but I was still feeling drawn to going to that show.

I watched the Trans-Siberian Orchestra by myself. (Side note, if you ever have the chance to see the performance, go do it! I have been to tons of festivals and still feel the production of that show is amazing.)

After eating dinner with my friends following the amazing show, I returned to my apartment and looked at that list of long-haired cats. One line stood out to me: Siberian Forest Cat.

Siberian Forest Cat. Charoite is only found in Siberia, Russia. I just attended the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert. And now, plainly stated on my list of potential longhair cats, I see the word “Siberian.”

All within one week.

I searched “Siberian cats in Arizona” and voila, there was a breeder who had one available adult cat for adoption. She was brought to Arizona from Russia a year prior to be a breeding cat. This cat ended up not liking any of the male cats, never had a litter, and now is up for adoption to be a house pet. This cat is my cat now, Umay.

Repeated symbols should not be ignored and are definitely signs from the Universe directing you one way or another. I was divinely guided by the Universe through these repeated signs to my beautiful cat, within one week.

Angel Numbers

Repeated numbers such as 111 or 444 and sequential numbers like 1234 are considered angel numbers.

Each angel number has its own meaning, which I will not be diving into in this post. That would make this a very long post. A wonderful YouTuber I used when I was noticing a lot of Angel Numbers and wanting to understand what they all meant is minxdiva.

Angel numbers can appear in a number of locations:

• License Plates
• Clock
• Phone Numbers
• Receipts
• Ticket Number at the DMV

When you are noticing angel numbers, and the same angel numbers in different ways, take this as a positive sign from the Universe that you are on the right path. When I recognized a lot of repetitious numbers, I would look up the meaning on minxdiva’s YouTube channel.

Understanding what that particular angel number means is helpful in understanding what it is the Universe is telling you.

I loved noticing these numbers all around me, especially during more difficult times of my life. Although outwardly things were not feeling so great, these numbers served as a gentle reminder to keep going and that I was on the right path.

The Four Clairs

The four main clairs are clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, and claircognizance. These are four psychic or intuitive senses in which we can receive information from the Universe to guide us along our path.

Similar to coincidence, serendipity, and synchronicity, these intuition downloads may not always outwardly relate to whatever your main Life Goal is but are positive signs that you are on the right path and divinely guided.

• Clairvoyance – the ability to receive intuitive guidance through seeing
  • Images, energy, aura, spirits
• Clairaudience – the ability to receive intuitive guidance through hearing
  • Not only a voice that is heard from within but also through external sounds like vocals from a song or voices from a conversation
• Clairsentience – the ability to receive intuitive guidance through feeling
  • Can be emotional or physical; being able to walk into a room and “feel” the energy of the room
• Claircognizance – the ability to receive intuitive guidance through knowing
  • A deep sense of knowing; often feels like it is coming out of nowhere

Some people have the ability to receive information from all of these senses, while others only have access to one or two. For instance, I tend to receive my intuitive downloads through claircognizance: a random thought and deep knowing of something.

I want to caution you that these senses should not be confused with anxious thoughts, rumination, or projecting. I find that information from these intuitive senses slides in quietly, almost as if a whisper, and emits a feeling of resolve.

Lean into these gifts that you have and understand that these are positive signs from the Universe that you are on the right path.
